Default My car is slow!!!

I'll try to keep this short...

Me and my friend both have "fun cars" and then a Daily Driver. My fun car being my Malibu, his being a 71 Nova (beautiful car, almost done with the new engine). Then, for Daily Drivers I have my Pt Cruiser and he has a 96 Grand-am that was bought a year ago with low miles and in good shape. The Grand-am has a 150hp 155lb-tq 2.4L, but it weighs less at 2,950lbs (Both are Atuomatics)

Anyways, we always joke around about who has the better car. We Bench race about our old cars, and since I got my Cruiser we now joke around about our Daily Drivers.

To make a long story short He drops me off at home and tells me to meet him at this school. The school is in the neighborhood with a big strip that goes around the parking lot (straight). At first I asked why and he wanted to race. So I go inside, grab the keys, and meet him there.

We line up and with out windows down he says "1...2...3!!" and he stomp on the gas from a role (no burnouts or good launching) We took it to about 40mph where he had me by about 1 car length.

Oh well, it was a fun thing we did, wasn't really a all-out race. Besides, these were just our Daily Drivers, and not our pride and joys. We didn't go too fast or do anything reckless. While I think overall that true street racing is stupid, this wasn't a all-out race, just a quick sprint to 40mph on a desseted strip of pavement.

Since he's got the same HP and similar torque numbers to your PT but weighs in a few hundred pounds less it's no big surprise that he's quicker. He did have the advantage though of calling the start, not really the most fair way to race!

Heck, drop a Hemi in that lawnmower, strip off the front bodywork, throw on a set of drag radials and he'll never trash talk you again!

Um, they only made them up till 83, that one is a 79...

lol huh??? Here is a picture of the engine for you (I've shown this before), don't let the outside of it fool you. I prefer more go then show. Also, this week (hopefully) I'll be checking out a much better Short-Block.

Better shot of the car.
