When you finally find a good 5-Star Dealer that really seems to care about you, your vehicle and understands the passion you have for that car. I recently had some issues with a crummy DMX dealership, and needless to say, I worry no more about that. I found a great place. Took the PT in Friday for the 27 point inspection and everything was great. He told me to stop being so paranoid and go enjoy the thing. Best part: while they were inspecting it, they told me to go drive the PT Convertible! So I got to go to lunch in the convertible and enjoy it![8)]

Wow! That's great! I live in So. Calif. and I have tried 3 Chrysler dealerships and have been treated like crap! Especially, this is for anyone in that area, Torrance Dealership. I once waited for 35 minutes just for someone to help me. The second time I went there they could not find my car! I had issues w/ my brakes at 10,000 miles and they went out of their way not to fix them because they were still under warranty. They finally did and about a month later the squeeking came back. I had a fellow pt'er look at them and discovered they were never changed!My sister also has a PT and had even more problems w/ that dealership! Now I am just about at 30,000 so I will go to a chrysler specialist I think?

Personally Princess, I would do what I am doing this week. I am actually going to call the DMX consumer hotline (should be in your PT Manual) and report the dealership. My problem stemmed from the Steering gear. One dealer said I needed new gear and had to pay 700 dollars for it. They also charged me 39 dollars just to tell me that.The new dealer said that was "poppycock" and that I didnt need a new rack. They also didn't charge anything.I mean 0 dollars and 700 dollars is a big danged difference. I also plan to fax the two repair sheets from both Dealers to my local Better Business Bureau.

I had a nice sael guy that I liked sell me my PT Cruiser. Price was $13,200 had he got it knocked down to $10,600.

But other then that, I don't mess with dealers. Unless it's covered under warranty, I'll never be stupid enough to take my car to the stealership for repairs or any kind of work.

I know a guy who does works on cars in his garage in the back yard of his buddy's house (his buddy also does work). It might not be the most professional place, but it's cheap, their work is good, and he even makes house calls. When the tranny went on my Bu he drove over to my house at 9pm to talk things over with us in person.

I actually did call Corporate Headquarters to explain to them what happened. I got a recorded voice and left a message. They actually sent me a survey in the mail two weeks later and I told them everything that had happened. Still waiting to hear back.....
Thank for all the friendly advice though. I know now not to take my car to the dealership for fixes unless under warranty...

If you feel comfortable doing so, how about naming some names, both good and bad, so that others in that area can prosper from your experiences. Word of mouth from consumers with good, or bad experiences will reward positive experiences and bring change, eventually, to those that offer poor ones.

I feel for the ones that don't have a good dealer service department. That being said, mine sucks. One thing that I don't understand is why would Chrysler let someone sell and service their product if that same someone is giving them a bad name? It just doesn't make since to me. I know if I let someone sell my product and their customer service sucked I would no longer let them sell my product. It just seems as if it is sell the product and to hell with the follow up. That just plainly sucks.
Buying the car at Galeana Chrysler in Fort Myers Florida was great but the service department, well, they know where they can go!

If you live in this area don't go there. I just read a few articles on consumeraffairs.com and I am seeing the same reaction. I did find a good private mechanic... San PEdro Chrysler Specialists.This guy loooves PT's. He gave me such excellent service! I upgraded my Brake Pads and got an oil change. I had an air valve in my trunk and a cabin air filter too that he offered to install for 30 bucks! He did a wonderful job and did't lose my car!!!Oh yes and I bought my PT at Car Max in Los Angeles and they are wonderful!!!Service center is great too. My sister takes her PT there because she lives closer. It is too far for me. They too have a great PT Looove there.

The reason most makes not just Chrysler turn a blind eye towards a bad dealer is money. It takes several Million dollars to open a dealership and if you don't know the car business inside out you WILL lose your shirt. There aren't that many people with the experience and the $$$$$$$$$$$$ that want to be a dealer. So the end result is they ( Chrysler ) put up with the bad ones.

The biggest problem is people will research the car but not the dealer. Anytime regardless of make you see a deal that is too good to be true you should make a mental note not to buy anything from them.
