Default over heated

Today on the way to the store my car over heated. I pulled off and shout
it off. After about 10 minutes I started it up and drove home it was fine. It ran where it always does. What do you think ??Thermastat stick ?? Is Mopar coolant the only thing I can use ??

You might want to check to see if your fan is working properly, I've heard of a few going bad.

You have to use Mopar coolant or the equivalent. It's a HOAT coolant. A HOAT coolant uses both inorganic and organic inhibitors. HOAT coolants offer the best of all technologies for both immediate and long lasting protection. It's special coolant and you can't mix regular coolant with it.

Jimbo,

As SRG said, there's been issues where the fan motor burned out...including mine. To check, turn the car on without the air-conditioning. The fan should be off. Turn the air-conditioning on and the fan will come on no matter what the temperature of the water is. It's hard to see the fan blades so you might need a flashlight.

On normal driving without the air-conditioning, the fan only comes on when the water temperature is at a certain degree and your below 35mph. Above 35 and the fan cuts off and lets the incoming air cool the water.

To me, it sounds like the thermostat stuck closed for that one time.

Took it in to dealer, they just called said they think it was the thermostat
and are replacing it.While I had it in there I told them to flush the tranny.
Kill two birds with one stone.
