I'm at 77,500 as of today on my '02. If by "trouble free", you mean high dollar repairs, then I've had none so far. Just routine stuff brakes and pads, sway bar bushings, and a couple other little items. Now watch, I've bragged on my car and it will probably leave me stranded tomorrow.

Mine was a 2001 5-speed, but it had 198740 when I traded it 3 weeks ago for a 06 Stratus. I already miss my Cruiser! The only problem I ever had was a bad cooling fan.

Talking Re: MOST MILES ON A NON TURBO AUTOMATIC PT???

i have a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser w/ 229,332 miles on it, and the car began to stick in 1st gear sporadically then more and more especially when super cold or moist. Ive noticed the traction control light on the dash is lit, but when the button is pressed it does nothing, recently every time id take off if i didnt wait for the 2nd gear shift before i accelerated the car would jump a bit and then wouldnt shift outta 1st which b4 i was able to pull over and kill the ign. remove the key and restart it and itd be ok now it wont reset at all.

Any help or advice is welcome

You really should start your own help me thread and not resurrect this old thread

My 2002 Touring Model just passed 200,504 miles on the way to work this morning. No major issues to speak of over the years. Just replaced the original radiator and passenger side half-shaft last month.

Me, too! With both my '02 and '05 PTs no major repair from new, just proper full maintenance. However, on both the radiator fans have been replaced. Although the '02 never has broken down on me, did have the timing belt and all else that goes with it done just a couple of months ago. However, both still running fine on their original engines and transmissions. '02 has 111,000 miles on it and the '05 just flipped to 100,000 (saving up to get the belt done on this one now).
