Un-clip and take out the front part of the air box. You can then see the battery, and if I remember right (it's been years) there a heat blanket around the battery held on with a strap. Take the strap and heat blanket off. Then the hold down for the battery and the positive and negative cables come off.
Thanks for clearing that up! I feel better about it now because I was dreading having to do what I did for my son's Stratus. Would you believe I am still on the original factory battery for a 2001?

The bar/strap goes between the battery fill holes, Right? If as you say it is a No maintaince battery, there should be caps that unscrew or a cover that covers 3 of the cells, either way just remove the cover for the cells by pulling up on one end, GENTLY!!!

Welcome to the Forum and do not shout by using all capitals.

In this situation of a battery install at say auto zone or advance..you would also have to take off the bar before they would continue with a Free Install..those are but a few of the times those 2 companys will ask you to do something for there Free Time, No Cost battery installs...

I just called autozone to get a battery. I was told " I believe thats one of the cars where you have to get up through the wheel well." He then said the PT is one they don't install for that reason. I'm reading the wheel does not have to come off?
