Adding a trailer hitch to a 2007 PT?

Hello Everyone!

I am a first time PT Cruiser owner as of this past Tuesday. I bought a new, silver 2007, manual transmission model. Very happy with everything so far.
Next week I have to go to a family reunion and I need some additional carrying capacity since we have to drive the in-laws. I would like to use one of those cargo carriers on the back to strap a cooler and stuff to. What is the best route to go in getting a trailer hitch installed? The OEM one from Chrysler seems to only have a towing capacity of 1000 Lbs., which is great for the cargo carrier, but I plan on getting a TAB Trailer ( Tab-rv.com - T@B Microlite teardrop RV travel trailer campers - Tab ) next year so I would like a 2000 lbs. capacity.
I have called different trailer places and chrysler dealers, but I would like some input from you folks if you don't mind? What hitch works best with the Cruiser? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info Triggerman. I need to have the hitch by this Friday so I finally found a local place that was reasonable and did work. The hitch and installation came to $210. The OEM hitch from Chrysler was $173.00 and then about another $125 in labour for installation. The odd thing is that the OEM hitch from Chrysler is only rated for a tongue rate of 100 lbs. and the towing capacity of 1000 Lbs., while the majority of the other hitches I found for the Cruiser were rated with a 200 Lbs. tongue rate and 2000 Lbs. towing capacity.
