Chrysler recommends using Premium gas (91 or higher). You can use regular because of the knock sensor, however you will notice a difference in performance. You might be better off to use mid grade gas and get some performance. I use 93 premium in my GT. These engines are not high compression either.

I also am using mid grade. On the way home from CTR 7 I drove my GT from Steambost Springs to Heber City and got just under 31mpg. The rest of the way home the mpg was a little less but still good. My GT at least seems to like the mountains.

If someone is too cheap to use premium, the recommended gas in a GT, then sell your car and buy a turbo lite or a Honda so you can burn regular. I have a friend with an Aeroforce Interceptor Pro Scan Gauge
SRT-4 Technical Information While doing an experiment with running regular gas and midgrade gas in a GT you would be amazed at the amount of knock not prevented by the pcm. You wouldn't allow anything but premium gas in your GT. Eventual engine damage to save a measly $100 a year not using premium. How sad and how cheap.

I have to go with the using premium point of view. You may not notice any problems at first using a lower grade ,but there is a reason its recommended by the manufacturer .My Harley is supposed to run premium fuel too ,and saving a couple of bucks today isnt worth damaging my baby. The knock sensor is there to keep damage from happening because you may have inadvertently bought some bad gas.Its not meant to be a long term solution that allows the use of a low grade fuel.
Hell why buy a GT at all if your not willing to buy a fuel that will let it run the way it was tuned to run?Seems kinda pointless to me..
