Squeeling noise in rain...

Last night I noticed that when I turned at a slow speed, at a stop light etc... my car would make that hideous squeeling noise that I only hear on old cars that sound like their going to fall apart.... Its kinda frustrating and embarrassing at the same time. It only happens in the rain and when I'm turning at a slow speed. It actually made the noise once while I was stopped and I started to turn the wheel.

Any idea whats going on or how I can fix it? Thanks!

Sounds like the accessory drive belt is slipping
(wet, and under a load from the power steering pump).

It is either almost worn out, or it just needs adjusting or (possibly) belt dressing.

A decent mechanic should take a look at it.
