Default Hand Brake Indicator Light

My Hand Brake (parking brake) light comes on with associated audio notification when I accelerate, then goes out when I am at cruise speed. Any suggetions where to start looking to fix this?

Edit added after posting - never mind, found that I need to check my brake fluid before I go any further.

Correct. Come back if that doesn't cure your problem.

And the reason you need brake fluid is because your pads are wearing down...
Keep an eye on them, replace them before your rotors get scored.
