Default 04 Cruiser surging

Hi all. New here so I am hoping I am posting to the right area.

My cruiser is my first car I have purchased on my own. It's very much my baby. But lately I have had a host of issues with it.

Had to replace the water pump, timing belt, front rotars, brakes. Now I have seen that the rotars and brakes are an issue and I upgraded those and they seem to be holding up.

My current problem is though that when the car sits at a stop light it will studder and surge like it just wants to go on its own. Now I have seen others here talk about that and 90% of the answers have been to replace the plugs.

Has anyone with this issue actually just replaced the plugs and solved the problem?

BTW the car is an 04' touring edition with 56k miles on it.

Thanks

It could also be that your EGR valve needs cleaning or replacement.

First off, WELCOME.
It's actually the ignition wires more than the plugs, but both should be changed at the same time. Get Crane wires ( www.RaceAndStreet.Com ) and you'll probably never need wires again.
I have nearly as many miles (54,000+) on my '05, and I got a "stumble" before 20,000 miles, put in wires & plugs & have been fine since.

Thanks all. Gunna grab the plugs an wires and replace those today. Will also look at the egr value and see if it needs a bit of care as well.

Thanks again

I read somewhere that it is the EGR 99% of the time. It was with my Mercury.

There is no more EGR on PTs from '03 on - title says this is an '04.

I had a problem in the past with skipping on acceleration. It turned out to be the spark plug wires arcing. I replaced them and all was fine.
