One of the best mods you can do is a pair of front hood struts.

Since I've got some chrome on my grille, I might as well put some chrome covers for the doors and the trunk area. I love the idea of padding the back bumper to protect the paint. And I definitely want to outline my rear lights with chrome!

now, I'm not mechincally inclined, but what is a 'strut'??

The "strut" is short for "Strut Tower Brace Bar". It's the chrome bar in the above photo that goes from one side to the other.

The strut Monroe Technical Support - What is a Strut? took the place of the front springs in almost all cars.

The Strut Tower Brace Bar is attached to the top of each strut and keeps them vertical during hard cornering. You already have a bar underneath the car. It stops the PT from leaning over too much during those maneuvers. If you drive "normally" all the time, you probably don't need it.

Sorry, just read your question over again and your probably asking about the hood sturts I was talking about.

The hood struts are just like the piston shaped rods that hold your tailgate up when you open it. You can buy smaller ones for the hood that hold the hood open so you don't have to use that yellow bar and hook shaped rod on the right hand side. You just open the hood and it stays open.

You got it. See, you knew what it was all along, or knew you had it but not what it was called.

I also notice that it appears that you still have the aluminum intake manifold. Why not get the plastic intake manifold for a mod?? That should be good for another 8-10hp yes?

I have an 06 GT Autostick Convertible -- in Cool Vanilla ... love, love, love it. No mods yet though, just dropped in K&N filter in the stock airbox. Spending so much money on the car payment that I barely have money for mods... Oh well - that's the way the cookie crumbles!

Great mods --- keep going!
