Hold the tripometer button IN while turning the key towards the windshield then let go of the button. This will start the Odometer counting all the numbers (1111111, 2222222 etc.) and then it will say "no faults" and all the dials start moving one at a time starting with the speedometer, gas guage, water temp and tachometer. then everything lights up and a chime will tell you the test is done.
Far Out

Man, what other cool stuff does this car do?

Well, it doesn't let the battery wear down if you leave the hatch or doors ajar. After a certain amount of time the lights will go out. Now, if you have the overhead console and manually push ON one of the lights, they will stay on forever and will run the battery down but they don't take much power as I've left one overhead light on (manually ON) and the next morning the PT still started.

I got the GT (Bottom of the line PT ?) that has so many features that it seems like a luxury car.

It also has an on board diagnostic computer that can test the meter cluster and detect faults with the fuel system, ignition system and it can also save the battery from the Swan dive so you won't be late to work.

Oh yeah, the style is way cool too.

The GT is the top of the line Limited Edition with lots of extras depending on the "Customer Perferred Package" that was picked. I have Package 28G that has about everything too.

OOPS Did I say GT?
Did I make a big boo boo or what?
It's The LX that I have, I did get the low end of the PT Cruiser line, not the GT.
Sorry about that!

Crewzin,

Thanks for the reply. My previous car was 14 years old and these modern electronics are a little new to me.

I have had a 2007 Touring for 4 months now, and it is great. I was looking at the PT's a couple years before I decided to buy and although I did a lot of research (including browsing this forum) it is much better than what I expected.

This is the 2nd question I posted on the forum, and both times replies were very thorough. I appreciate that, and can see that there are some really cooperative and knowledgeable people on this board. I don't know if it's more a credit to the people or the PT itself, but the combination works really well.

A lot of the active members on the forum have had their PT for a number of years. Have experienced problems or read about other owners problems on this and other forums plus most have had some mechanical background be it professional or backyard an are willing to share that knowledge. Good luck with your PT.
