Insurance question and aftermarket parts.

My wife and I just purchased a used PT Cruiser Touring with
29k miles, no turbo, automatic, 2.4l. We went to a Chrysler
dealership and purchased the 7/70 warranty for $150.

Was this the right thing to do?

Also they offered us a bumper to bumper for about $950.
Is it worth it to get the bumper to bumper?

Now for the performance/warranty questions.

If I install a K&N air filter will this void the warranty?

If I install a new K&N PT Cruiser Fuel Injection Performance Kit
will this void the warranty?

What if I just do the stock mods to the airbox, like removing the
donuts, will this void my warranty?

I have no experience with Chrysler, their warranties, or the PT Cruiser.
My wife drives the car and I want to maximize fuel economy and make
the car as fun as it can be when I drive it!

Your 7/70 warranty, what does it cover. For $150, I'm thinking not much, if they offered you a bumper to bumper for $950. Also, was it a Chrysler warranty? Some dealers sell a after market warranty that you have to pay for the whole cost of the repair and then you TRY to collect from the company. IMHO-If you are going to buy a warranty, make sure it is a Chrysler warranty.

The $150 was the transfer cost for the full Chrysler 7/70 powertrain warranty with the $100 deductible.

The $950 would be to extend thel Chrysler Bumper to Bumper warranty to 75k also at a $100 deducible. I was at a Chrysler dealership and he said because of the age and mileage of my car it qualified. I said I wanted time to decide and talk it over with my wife and he said it would be valid until the car reached 48k miles.

Get the extended warranty!!! It will pay for itself!!! I am a Chrysler technician I know. Main problems I see are transmission, front suspension and occasionally engine problems. The PT is a great car but it does have a few problems. All it takes is replacing the front control arms and replacing front struts and the warranty pays for itself.

How much of that will the Life Time Power Train cover?
The struts too? If not then how much?

scubaduderon, check on line for Chrysler dealers that offer bumper to bumper warranty. I did and saved myself $500.00 from my local Florida dealer.

Well, I gave a call to Kevin. I had scoped out other dealerships
online who offer discounted Chrysler warranties and found one
that was slightly cheaper. Kevin matched the discount on the
spot. He is a very good person to deal with and I highly recommend
him.
