ANTI FREEZE??

WHAT KIND OF ANTI-FREEZE do we USE in Our PT Cruisers??? I know it appears to be red or pink...I dont want to pay dealer price..help with assistance thanks MJB

Im confused now,,I went to Pep Boys to buy this antifreeze & parts manager said not to use it because its yellow & my PT takes red Dexcool?? HUH?? $13.99 to boot per gallon!! I than called dealer & they said not to use Dexcool but use MOPAR coolant which is $21.99 per gallon only available there! What a rip off !! Its like Jessie James but legally!! What should I do?? Can Prestone all makes all models or PEAk all makes all models be used also?? To top off only $10.00 or less??

Look at it this way. A dealership does not make money selling cars. It makes money doing repairs and selling parts. Why would they tell you to go elsewhere? Now if you have a cooling problem and they see a different color coolant would they hassle you about it and possibly deny you warranty? They sure might. I don't think spending an extra $10 is going to hurt and it might save a future headache. I'd buy the factory coolant. If my car was out of warranty I'd buy elsewhere. HOAT is HOAT no matter what the color.
