Honestly, I think the seats are fair. However, maybe the Leather seats are better? I'm used to a lower seating position, I guess. I agree that Flushing the Tranny and leaving the filter is rather questionable. I have noticed that the car sort of grows on you. I took my kids to school today and I just kicked back and cruised them on in with no worries. I appreciate the compact size as compared to our Intrepid and the Touring Edition suspension is rather nice too. It's not very quick at all. I've been in a Stratus with the same engine and it had more get up and go then this car. I wish there were gear options. I know that in the Intrepids you could swap out the tranny from the 3.2/3.5 and swap in one from a 2.7 use the 2.7's TCM and those tranny's use a steeper gear ratio, 3.89 I believe. Gear options would be cool. I'm sure the 5spd is more worthwhile, but ours is a 4spd auto.I also miss the auto stick feature that the Intrepid had. Do they make an Auto-Stick Feature as an option on these cars? On that subject I read several complaints on other sites that the planetary gears in these cars self-destruct? Any truth to that and is there a way to tell if it's going to happen or not?

If you want "quick" - you're looking at getting a Turbo with a 5-speed manual tranny.
-The next step down for quickness (in my humble opinion) is the non-turbo with a 5-speed manual, and an aftermarket air intake system like my AirRaid system. Boy did it make a difference in mine, especially quick pedal response.
-Last step down the ladder is a non-turbo with an auto tranny. Can't expect much there with the confined air intake & auto tranny delay - maybe an aftermarket air intake system might only help a little.
**My guess is an manual tranny with an NT engine would get you the best gas mileage.
**By opening up the intake, like I did with my NT, I love the growling sound & quick response, but I pay for that by sucking more gas through - lower mpg.

An intake only opens things up, up front. The only way your sucking more gas is if your mashing the pedal. The computer will compensate and adjust for the increased airflow. Stock turbos are cool, but since that's not an option for us, they do make a supercharger for these things that offers a 60% increase in power, that's 240hp if the findings are true. If so, then I'd get the intake AND a free flowing exhaust, not to mention a hotter coil, better spark plug wires and a higher volume fuel pump. Then the only true worry is if the stock tranny can deal with the increased torque and HP output. However since this is my wifes car more then my car, I'm not concerned. If you want to go fast you don't buy a PT Cruiser, plain and simple...

Sounds like you've got a handle on the issue.
Sorry - I though you were worried about the "get & go"! (Nov 26 post)

Actually I've owned fast cars, in the past. With this car I'm more into longevity and reliability. I'm just glad to have something as decent as this PT is. I've tried to post pics but it wouldn't let me. It says something about how it won't post dynamic pics or something like that. So your all S.O.L. until I figure out some otherway. I'm sure everyone knows what a Deep Plum PT Cruiser looks like, only ours is cleaner. We've put 106 miles on it so far and I'm starting to enjoy the car alot more then when we bought it. The size is really an asset. I can get around parked cars in alleys and manuever this PT with ease. My wife can park it with no issues. I'd like to take it out on the highway bur we haven't come up with a reason to go on the highway as of yet. So like Tony's Frost Flakes, the car is GrEaT!

Why yes, Yes I do! If it were physically possible I'd have made love to it, it was that sexy! I know a sweet car when I see one and that car was the berries in my jam, the butter on my bread, and the chocolate in my peanut butter. Oh yes, best believe me.
