My absolute best was a tad over 30mpg on my NA manual 03, while my 05 GT auto saw 17 in town if I stayed out of it, and no more than 25 on the highway. The over 30 is at low altitude, ac more off than on, Mobil One and keeping it under 85.
BTW...I was on here quite awhile back as Coolvanillagt. The GT is gone.....many tears..

Just took a new mileage reading yesterday. Have almost 76,000 miles on my '05 PTGT. Average overall driving is 20.5 MPG on my automatic. A/C is on most of the time.

You should get a diesel. My 2005 2.2crd does 43mpg (imperial miles and imperial gallons) week-in-week out any driving style town and motorway.

Also slipping into neutral may not help fuel consumption. When in neutral fuel is being burnt but when in overrun, in gear, the engine management system switches the fuel off because no power is required.

Hey, I recently did a trip to Orlando and got 27.43 mpg average. I think my setup might have something to do with it maybe? I know my tires can only hurt it because i'm running 225/45/17's on the front and 245/40/18's on the rear. yay for rolling resistance! haha.

Well, I've found that the miliage I get varies widely, depending on how I drive. I guess this is a no brainer really but it seems to vary between 20 and 28, pretty much in line with the ratings and what others get here.

I just put in Mobil 1 oil with a Mobil 1 filter. This may help a small bit. Put a little more air in the tires and got a K&N air filter too. Next is new plugs and wires. I will probably go with Mopar performance wires and Champion Double Platinum plugs.

The computer was reset after a minor repair and it seems like it's learning the feather touch driving both me and my wife do. I try to anticipate traffic flow to keep a nice even speed, without the need to accelerate abruptly or stop completely. The computer is now providing very slow smooth acceleration.

Mind you I don't necessarily drive slow, I just accelerate very smoothly gradually creeping up on those pedal to the metal types who I eventually pass. I don't mind if they beat me to the stop light because I just beat them in fuel savings. Like I said before, it's a game, but I'll add that it takes skill too. To do better than average speed on slow acceleration, reading traffic flow and timing, while catching as many lights as I can is quite hard. Hey, I've only got every work day to perfect it...

I'll report back with the results of these changes when I get them.

Ron
