Ernie, it might be just the base model that the lights were deleted. I know someone pointed out that the door switches, rear window switches on the floor console and possibly others were deleted.

In my 2005 Limited, the dash-mounted rear window switches do not light up. Don't know if these did in previous models. I don't think the floor-mounted ones light up either, but I don't really look back there much.

(obviously I forgot to check the highbeam lamp, thus I did it twice) Oh also, don't leave the instrument cluster upside down for over 1/2 hour after you have removed it from the car.
