Thumbs up Re: airaid air intake system ! love it!

QSD,
I think that would be significant "low-frequency hearing loss"!

About that free throttle spacer ring - for the old carburated engines it did two things: (1) it isolated the carb from the engine heat and therefore delivered a cooler, more dense charge of air and gas to the engine, and (2) it gave a minor "ram" effect to the incoming charge (a mini version of a high rise manifold) which is supposed to improve torque.

Don't know if any of that is valid anymore given the computer pretty much runs everything, and re-maps the incoming gas / air charge to suit the engine several times per second! Would like to see some dyno proof that the thing is efffective on a modern engne. Maybe it's just a dinosaur?

But . . free is good (might just be worth every penny you spent!).

Spacers add length to the runners and plenum, thereby increasing air velocity. The reason they just dont seem to work that well on the pt cruiser is the fact that the runners and plenum are already very long, and adding a half inch isnt going to make any difference.

Be ready to see your gas mileage decrease.

Not because the intake is inefficient, but because the sound is so nice you will tend to floor it at every opportunity.

And keep it floored, enjoying the sound of the engine breathing freely, even at high RPM.

after

uh oh! i just noticed this piece is not connected anymore and im not sure what it is supposed to be connected to!

ok as for installing the intake it only took maybe 30 mins if that. the only problem i had was taking the sensor out of the original tube. it was really in there! other than that it was wicked easy.

Hey All,
I saw this post and had to jump in. The intake was the first thing I did and what a difference. Sound and a little extra get up and go. Very happy with it and glad you all feel the same.
have a good one

Kinda makes a whistling sound at WOT. But performance didn't do a thing. Took mine out so my Injen intake would fit properly without having to cut the heat shield.
