Dougs, Before my father and I junked our 01, it had 286k. Blown Head Gasket and it was rusting everywhere. If it had no rust, we may have replaced the head gasket but body was too far gone.

My PT is one of the last remaining '01's I see up here in the northeast. This car has only lived in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. I'm very preventative about rust. My whole undercarriage has been completely rustproofed and I always wash right after any salt has been deployed on our roads. I'll drive this till it dies.

Not much work to paint calipers. I used POR-15 caliper paint for it and it has held up great.

373,000

Just had the Watts link replaced again! Must be the 4th one and had the right tie rod end replaced again! Poor Belle Tire has been giving free parts as part of lifetime warranty afer the original repairs this whole time. I have been going there for 10 yrs now with my PT and they have probably replaced everything once or twice by now.

05' with 217,000 as of today. I it use as a daily driver...never in a hurry and just take my time. But it still has good power and takes on any mountain pass I go over. I just went over Independence Pass, the drive was awesome but very hazy from the Durango fire. I had to make a correction on my mileage because I didn't have my glasses on..I thought it was 214k

Bought in 2005 w/19k miles.

197,400 miles to date.

Still have the original tranny and original engine block and original turbo..hasn't lost any power! She still a beast on the streets and she is my daily driver/commuter.

Items replaced (yes i keep a car log!):
Items labeled as failed actually caused a code to display or caused my car to not be in driving condition, they stopped working. Others, i just replaced because I thought it was time.

Replaced in 2015:
alternator; all 4 Injectors (failed); Starter; Timing belts; PCM (failed); pcv valve (failed); Fuel pump; Transmission filter; Battery (failed); Turbo inlet hose (failed)

Replaced in 2016:
Radiator & Radiator hoses/heater hoses (failed); Tie rods; New 4 Pirelli tires & 4 new rims; Head lamps; painted the spoiler

Replaced in 2017:
Battery (interstate) mega-tron 26r (failed); Fog lamps (ordered from APW); Turbo inlet hose/patched turbo (failed); New front fascia (hit a raccoon); Transmission oil pan (failed-leaking); Crankshaft seal (failed); Timing belt, Water pump; Rear taillights/bulbs and brake bulbs (failed); Spark plugs & wires (Failed)

Replaced in 2018:
inner tie rods (after market) (failed); new Paint job: hood, roof, front grill, front fenders; fuse for high beams (failed); replaced O-rings for AC leak and recharged freon (failed); intake manifold gaskets (failed)

Plan to finish painting my ride: all 4 doors and rear the fall of this year

Prior to 2015: I remember getting my shocks replaced and having A/C compressor replaced. I also had previous issues with misfirin which was caused by bad gas or faulty injectors. Since ive had my injectors replaced, i havent had any issues in this area besides my intake manifold gaskets that were torn to shreds. Apparently they were original. I started to replace A LOT of original parts under the hood in 2015 not because they left me stranded but because I figured it would only be a matter of time before they failed. All in all I give my PT an A+....to have the original transmission, enginr and turbo at 197k miles and it being a daily driver in Houston, Texas in which the average speed in the city is 75mph and average miles driven a day is 30-40miles...yeah I'd say I own a gem.

I also keep a log (small notebook") in the glove box of all my vehicles. Try to write down everything done, including trivial ones.

176K. It's my hobby car now so I only drive it maybe 1 or 2 times a week.

typically I wait for the nice days so I can cruise with the roof open and the windows down
