That's in 5th gear with stock wheels and tire size.

I got a 2003 with over 217,000 miles on it. I bought it about a year ago with about 207.000 miles. The previous owner(s) took really good care of this car!

65,000 miles after 17'ish years.

At my current rate I'll change the timing belt and water pump at 100k miles some time in 2028.

Hopefully they'll still make parts then, it's becoming difficult to get good parts but I have had great luck with ebay.

You should go to Welcome New PT Cruiser Members - PT Cruiser Forum and create an intro thread.

You say 17 years of ownership, then you have an '02?

Since you have a low mileage vehicle and apparently don't drive it very often, the parts on your PT can wear out just from lack of use, especially rubber items (timing belt). You should therefore be following the time schedule in the manual and not mileage.

You're already on borrowed time. According to the '02 Owner's Manual, the belt should be replaced at 84 months (7 years). You should have already had it replaced twice.

I know I'm on borrowed time. In my 2003 (bought in 2002) I haven't changed it yet, even though I should go by time instead of mileage.

It's a gamble. Changing out the timing belt and water pump would cost more than the car. But that is applicable to even modest repairs for me. I'm not mechanically inclined enough to do that by myself.

I'm grateful for every day it runs.

Wow some miles on the above PT's --Timing Belts should be changed not only for miles but age just like Tires I did mine two years ago at 50000 because it was over 10 years old--Tires every 6 years no matter miles for safty!!

2008 convert garage queen, last year put on 2,500 miles now has 42,500. '02 bought 7 years ago with 102,000 now has 122,365 and looking to sell. Both pampered dolls. Looking at Boss's 2008 white turbo with 39,000 miles... hope to get it soon. Can ya tell I LOVE the PT Cruisers?
