recommendations for new battery

I am in the market for a new battery. My PT hesitated on start up. Does anyone recommend a particular battery for a 2001?

No specs on the PT in your profile. So, there's a lot of details unsaid. You make it sound like you "know" that the battery is the cause of slow start-up? Is it the original?
-Lots of good batteries; but I prefer Interstate batteries.

avoid WALMART batteries like the plague! Interstate or Exide, Ive had great luck with both.

My PT is a limited edition 2001. I have had the car for 5 years. I do believe it IS the original battery. The car turns over, but when the temperture dipped in the low twenties here in Cincinnati , there was alittle hesitation. It didn't crank over like it did before. Trying to prevent going out to the car when its Zero degrees and getting NO start. Any info is appreciated.

A 2001 on the original battery? In Ohio in the Winter?

The battery don't owe you nothing at this point. Replace it before it leaves you stranded in a cold, empty, dark place.

Or make sure your cell phone is charged and your AAA membership is up to date. Your choice.

I have always had good luck with Sears Die-Hards. You can usually catch a sale.

I bought a Duralast Professional battery (AUTOZONE) under a commercial name, fits perfect and is a different number than (26R) but higher cold cranking amps and overall a better warranty.

$50 under commercial name.

Yup! Even getting 4-5 years out of an OEM battery is good!
With the OKlahoma summer heat, I've never had one go beyong 3-4 years.
***Just don't get yourself hooked into a long, pro-rated warranty; where you feel like you have to trade it for their newer model, in order to get the pro-rated amount back as discount.
(i.e., if their batteries aren't lasting long; don't repeat the mistake)
