Hi guys, I have a couple of questions.
1- I have a 2006 PTC touring edition which came with factory installed Sirius radio. I want to upgrade my stock radio to an after market radio, does anyone know if I'll be able to use the same Sirius tuner with the new after market radio or will I have to buy a special adapter or something (If the input jack on after market radio is same as on stock radio). I'm planning on buying Kenwood excelon X790. 2- There are two 6X9 mounts behind the vertical trim panels, against the back door, above the shelf but there are no wires, do you think I'll have to do wiring to install a pair of 6X9 speakers.. Thanks in advance for your help. |

I just went to a stereo shop yesterday to talk about the same issue with my '03. The stereo shop says that you might be able to do it with an adapter, but usually what they have found was that it was cheaper to install a new Sirius tuner with a new stereo than to get the adapter, and just leave the old tuner in the car disconnected. You then call Sirius and switch your subscription over to the new unit. If you sell the PT, you can keep the new Sirius tuner and stereo, put the old stereo back and leave the factory Sirius unit there.
I don't know if they were just trying to sell me more stuff, but it kind of makes sense. You can get Sirius tuners pretty cheap now, and I know all those adapters are expensive. Best thing to do is shop around and ask shops who have done this on the PT before. Good luck. Natasha |
