How? Best I can do is 270 and I'm the 200 lb. cargo. Even then, the needle is dead on empty.

"I got 358 miles out of one fill up" and if I continue to do it I'll get to spend lots of money on a new fuel pump. Yeeeeeah!

Read the post from MX-5, an ASE Certified mechanic and PT guru.

When does your fuel light come on - PT Forums - The PT Cruiser Enthusiasts and Owners Resource

Why would you not care when it happens?

well, I am not an ASE certified mechanic...but having owned 15+ vehicles in my lifetime and not having to replace one single gas pump.....I am not that worried about a gas pump failing simply for driving it into the red. Besides, if the gas pump on the PT goes out for such a stupid reason then it just tells me that I need to look for a different vehicle. So far it has been a blast and knock on wood. Besides, I don't do it all the time.

thanks for your input though, duly noted.

Keep in mind that Chrysler used some of the cheapest parts to build the PT so the fuel pump burning up wouldn't be that unusual. Just like the cheaper lower control arms, cheaper auto tranny, cheaper brakes, cheaper rotors, cheaper rack and pinion, cheaper motor mounts (torque struts), exterior paint, etc, etc.
