Glad you were able to get the message. Computer see no code so if your having slow starting problems, the battery is the first thing to check. Cold weather really takes a toll on batteries, but I wouldn't think your 06 would have battery problems.

see, that's what's weird....my car is always parked inside the garage, and I usually warm up my car before I leave the driveway. this light came on just this morning.

The light meaning the one that looks like a little engine, that we call the "check engine" light...and there was no code??

Maybe it's like QSD just said on another thread, a one-time fault from the engine management system that clears itself since it doesn't see the fault anymore.

Thanks everyone and to especially pnwptowner for his post about unplugging the battery...just thought y'all should know that little battery tweak did the trick~ so I've no light coming on anymore. w00t!

welp, it didn't last long...LOL the engine light came back up this morning and I'm wondering if I didn't turn off the battery long enough...it was for one minute instead of the ten minutes that pnwptowner did with his battery.

back to the ol' drawing board... *sigh*

Cruisinbabe,

If the light was off for any period of time after you had the battery disconnected and connected again, then it was long enough to clear the code. If it came on immediately after you started the engine after reconnecting the battery, then maybe you didn't have it disconnected long enough.

the light's still on, I haven't had a chance to do the battery disconnect/reconnect job yet....however, yesterday I went to put more gas in my car and thought nothing of it until this morning when I heard a 'DING' and a message: "GASCAP" WTH..? why did it come on a day after I got gas?! I checked to see if the gascap was loose, it was not. I still kept getting that message.

methinks the computer got a few things loose somewhere....

suggestion? do the battery thing and see if the computer will reboot/reset?

Okay so i have a 2007 pt cruiser and with in the last couple of weeks my instrument panel will go crazy. my mph wont register neither will my temp or rpms. the oil battery and every other light will come off, but when it does this its intermittent. it will do it for a few minutes to a few second before it either stops and goes back to normal or the gauges just stop working all together. sometime this problem is fixed or aggrivated by hitting a bump or something. any info will be helpful

Welcome.
You should still have warranty on an '07, right?
If so take it to dealer and be aggressive - don't let them tell you "no trouble found".
The instrument cluster is a printed circuit board - I suspect you have a crack in it - given the on-again-off-again symptoms and why a bump makes it come or go.
