I have a 2001 cruiser and lately I've been having problems with the automatic locks on the front driver and passenger side doors. First of all whenever it locks it makes this awful screeching noise. First the driver's side started making a noise and now the passenger side is making a noise. Not only do they make noise, but sometimes the locks just won't unlock with the key remote and they stick when I try to use the key. I've actually locked myself out once because I had the car warming up and the locks got stuck and didn't unlock all the way and the door shut. Has anyone ever had this problem? If so is this something expensive to fix or do I just need a little WD40?

if theyre screeching, then the lock solenoids that are integral to the latch mechanisms are worn out. try lubing first, but if that doesnt help youll need new latches.
