Default Engine sizes

I was chatting with a neighbor that has an '02 Cruiser. She said her highway mileage was about 19, compared to my 28 with an '02. This was attributed to her engine being a 3.3L, available only in the Limited Edition in '02.
Now I'm trying to find just what engines came stock in PT's, and thought it'd be best to ask the persons that drive 'em. Any info would be appreciated.

There was never a 3.3l offered in the pt, perhaps she just has a heavier foot?

The only engines offered in the US PTs (base, touring, and limited) are the 2.4 L and the 2.4L turbo. Turbo charged engines came out with the GT version in 2003. I think europeans had the choice of a 1.6L? diesel as well.

Tell your friend to get a tune-up, (plugs, wires, filters, pcv valve) and lighten up on the gas pedal a bit.

Thanks. When she saidd 3.3, all I could connect it to was a mid 90's Dodge Caravan.
Maybe she had one of those and got confused.
Just a note - as I plowed thru the Jasper engine site, I came across a few 2.4's, with different VIN letter designations. B was the most popular, but some of the other lettered engines weren't available. Think this is due to application or internal differences?

UK market had a 2000cc Petrol (Gas) engine when I bought mine in 2000 (year).

Performance is fairly perky. Just got a 2005 2429cc (only 14k miles) so will see if I notice a difference.

There was also a 2.2l diesel.

There's a pdf (link should be in my sig) that tells diff between engines,
They're all the same, except,

'94-'00 (minor differences)
'01 'Bulge, small hole' head fits every block made, '94-10, manifold mounting slightly different
'02 'Bulge, large hole' head and block
'03 & up 'NGC' block
'03 & up turbothingy valves, pistons, rods- oilpump?

obviously mounting bosses, filters for diff chassis, etc diff

i made a sign for a realtor lady and she came in a plymouth prowler to pick it up. she insisted her prowler was faster than my mustang because she had a 24 cam engine. i tried to correct her but it was useless. she had a 24 cam engine, the dealer told her.(and she wouldn't race for $, i tried)

yea i know the OP is from 2008
