Normally I'm driving my 2003 LE, and happy as can be. But, due to some all-day work yesterday, the dealership gave me a freebie loaner, a 2007 Basic Cruiser. Not my baby, but a nice car anyway.
![]() So, silly question here: unlike my 2003, whenever I turned off the 2007 the radio kept playing. (I used to drive an old '69 Beetle that did that; unless you specifically turned the radio off, it would keep playing as long as the battery held out.) Is this normal for the 2007, or something odd about this particular car, or was I doing/not doing something correctly? ![]() If it matters, the 2007 had the standard cd player/am-fm radio. And the car ran fine; this was just something I hadn't expected.

in both of my 07 PTs the stock Radio will continue to play after the ignition is turned off and after the key is removed, until the driver door is opened, then it will shut off.

hmmm. Hadn't tried opening the door: just pushed the button to turn the thing off. So either way, the answer is no, it won't just go on playing: it will shut off? Interesting, and also a little weird!

It's normal. The interior electrical stuff works for 10 minutes of till you open the door. Windows, sunroof etc..

I like it. I have to go to work ass early. When I turn off my car I've got 10 minutes till my car lets me know I'm no longer welcome and I need to get the hell out.
Normally, it turns off when the door's open though, so no issue in normal operation. |

Does it do the same with the lights, too? Like I said, it seemed odd to this 2003-driver, but I can also see how it would indeed come in handy! (Like all the times I've turned off my engine, THEN realized I forgot to close the windows or sunroof again, dammit.....)

Opening a vehicle door will cancel this feature. Press and hold the EVIC button when in this display until “Off”, “45 sec.”, “5 min.”, or “10 min.” appears to make your selection.
