Hi, I have a 02 diesel, and for a while when you hit about 50 a warning light comes on and all power goes, when you switch engine off and re-start the light has gone, and then after a while the same thing happens. I have taken it to a couple of garages who have put the machine on to check numbers, but to no avail. Now it looks like the head gasket has gone, so another trip to the garage, does anyone know if this is very expensive, and if the warning light is connected, so when repaired no problem??!!! or am I just hoping for too much, any help and advice would be very much appreciated, my american dream is turning into a nightmare!!!!

1) No diesels in the US, suggest you try UK Cruiser Club :: Index
2) Get the code for your check engine light - with engine off, turn the key to "on" (just before starter would engage), back one click to "off",
Then, "on", "off", "on". "off" and "on" -
in the mileage area of the dash something like P0301 should appear (sometimes more than one code) followed by "done". You should always at least get "done".

Just enter the code in Google for a clue what the computer sees is wrong.
