the owner's manual says that if i push the button on the left that shows temperature and mileage, i'll eventually get to the personal settings to change headlamp delay and stuff. i just can't because it's turned off..

i guess there's some kind of secret programming that dealerships or rental places can put in so that people don't change them all the time...

I just got one as a rental and found the instructions in the user manual. You seem to have to be inside the car for this to work:

On non EVIC-equipped vehicles perform the following steps:
1. Press the LOCK button for four to ten seconds.
2. While the LOCK button is pressed (after four seconds), press the PANIC button. Release both buttons.
The "Sound Horn On Lock" and "Flash Lamps With Lock" feature can be reactivated by repeating this procedure.

You can download the user manual from here:

It seems to be a fact that not all newer Cruisers have the Personalization Menu feature. Thanks to Bookman, I learned how to find the menu that changes from Metric to English, but that's about all I can change on my '08 Base model.
Thanks for the key button info, Jeff.

Look about 4 posts above your question, notice that there is a owners manual also to download. Even tho it is for a 2004 and you didn't mention what year your PT is, the basic instructions remain the same.
