This may be of some help--

Replaced the valve body 5-10,000 miles by dealer, I am assuming with Chrysler parts--You have some warranty protection 12 Months or 12,000 miles which ever occurs first. If you are over either of them you still may have some warranty.

If you are over in one area but under in the other and the repair was performed by a Chrysler Dealer--you already stated that--you may get the part for free and only have to deal with the labor side. Your service writer should be aware of this; if not, ask that the issue be checked out by the Chrysler Warranty Administrator--that individual will verify coverage which is cleary stated in the Chrysler Warranty Manual.

Another avenue is 1-800-992-1997. Keep to the facts with no bile--just express the facts and you disappointment--these are the folks in the "fuzzy pink slipers" that really try to make good things happen to NICE people. This is the last ditch effort if the warranty route is not productive.

Good Luck. Keep us informed.

Well, I took the PT into a transmission guru who described some things to me. He said that when a transmission has trouble downshifting it is generally the piston is damaged and is not shifting the gears properly. Also, the clutch packs may need to be replaced. Basically, a minor rebuild is necessary.

He said that in the end, if using the right parts, you can rebuild the tranny to be better than how Chrysler sent it out. (He wasn't too fond of Chrysler transmissions either.)

Overall the cost would be over $1000.

If my friend ends up having this work done, I will post on what the results were.
