Hey everyone. I'm just a novice when it comes to cars at best. My dad owns a PT Cruiser that he modified with a few enhancements to make it better. I currently drive a 2003 Chevy Cavalier that I am unhappy with and I am thinking about getting a PT Cruiser, but I don't know much about them. What I am looking for is probably a used turbo version Cruiser, but what kind of milage should I look for and what year should I look for? I'm trying to make up my mind as to what would be best for me at this point, with what the gas prices are right now.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

to be honest if your looking at gas prices stick with the cav, it will give you much better gas milage then any cruiser, but if you want comfort and something with some style and class then by all means find yourself a good used cruiser, for what ever you budget alows.. maybe leave room in the buget for mods too.

Look for an '04 or later turbo, but not the GT. The GT uses premium fuel, the "turbo lite" takes regular.
I had a non-turbo '02 PT, traded and got an '05 turbo "lite" and actually get a little BETTER mileage with the turbo - if I don't punch it. ![]()

Go with a High Output Gt turbo 5speed....its a whole lot of fun and quite practical too. Enuf about gas mileage its not like it is a HEMI !

Go with the GT and a 5 speed. If I stayed out of boost I could get just as good mpg or better than a non turbo 5 speed because of having a lot more torque than the non turbo. And for heaven's sake don't fall for that, "But a GT needs to use premium" argument. It's an extra $2-$3 a tankful. Big whoop, so you rent one less movie a week. The turbo lite 180 hp model is alright, but still lacks good power in a heavy car and you'll have to chance the weak link auto tranny.
