I would let my girlfriend drive mine... but she can't drive stick, and the I believe she described the sounds it would make as "An orchestra of crunchy noises"

Nah. Mine was hers for the first 5 years. But I know she is a bit apprehensive when I take her HHR.

I've had my baby for five years now, and, other than my mechanic, NO ONE else gets to even touch her keys, let alone actually DRIVE her! (And even with my mechanic, a guy I really trust, I can't watch.....)

When we bought our used '05 TE it was originally going to be for my wife to use while I had our Grand Caravan....that plan lasted until I drove the PT home from the dealer and fell in love with it! My wife is not a "car person" and really doesn't care what she drives (as long as it doesn't break down on her <G>) so she is happy with the Caravan and all the little bells and whistles it has.
To answer your question though, she can and does use the PT on occasion but knows it is "my baby" and treats it carefully...not leaving Burger King bags on the floor and such. I guess as much as I love my PT, I love my wife more...she told me so
