can someone explain this to me

Basically a vent,,,, when you are in boost,, and slam the throttle CLOSED, if you don't vent the boost somewhere,, it will back up against the turbo and try to stop it,, in worse case scenarios,, it could snap the turbo shaft.

The pt has a "surge valve" which reroutes the boost back into the air INTAKE, internally thought the turbo. Most BOV vent to atmosphere.
