The onboard battery can store a charge for up to several hours running time (can't remember what the maximum is).

I haven't really checked to see how many miles we can get on a tank of gas primarily because I don't believe in running it until the tank is almost empty. Vehicles today have the fuel filter in the tank and it preserves the life of the filter by keeping it completly submerged at all times. For any of my vehicles I never let the tank get below 1/4 full. The Prius has a 11.9 gallon tank. If I remember correclty from readings I've seen in the past months, it will be close to 600 miles per tank. I am positive it is over 500 miles per tank.

The computer on the Prius computes average mpg over a period of time (which can span multiple tanks of gas). You can reset it any time you like and it will recompute.
Ohh alright.

Thanks for clearing that up. Must feel nice refilling once a month, lol.

If you want to save the plannet by cutting your Co2 emissions down by 50% and save your wallet by cutting your fuel bill in half, just convert to LPG (propane).

I had a Lexus LS400 in UK that cost me $100/week on petrol, on LPG it cost $40...
At the yearly inspection (called MOT in UK) the Co2 emmisions level was at 308 g/km on petrol and 129 g/km on LPG. That's close to the 104 g/km that the prius emits! but in a big luxury car!

It lost maybe 5% power as the LPG mix burns hotter and is slightly less efficient per ammount injected but with a 4.0 V8 thats has roughly 260hp and masses of torque, I didn't care too much.

Turbo cars take well to LPG as the vaporising process leaves the fule mix cold, so much so it has to be heated by the water from the cars pre-thermostat portion of the cooling system.

There were many PT's with LPG in the UK because of their awfull mpg in comparison to similar sized cars... someone has surely done it to a PT over here?

Don't do it!
It's not a mini anymore, it's in the name - 'mini' was a 650kg small car that was super compact, tight to drive and felt like you were doing 100mph when you were only doing 50...
then new BMW mini should be called the BMW 'medium', it has no traits of the old mini at all other than a vaigue resemblance.

I owned a proper mini cooper anit was a blast, I drove a new mini cooper for a weekend, I was bored.

If you want retro style but modern day comfort, keep the PT
If you want to do your bit for the environment adn save on gas buy the Prius.

Sorry for the rant.

Oh no...
I left the UK to get away from those crazies that were obsessed with sitting behind tractor engines

I drove a 2.2 CRD PT in the UK, and yes it got better mpg and it had low down torque, all the usual things dirty oil burner owners rave about, but it sounded like a 60's John Deere not a funky small car.

just keep reminding youerselves a gallon of 92 octane cost's over $8 in europe... only getting 18 city and 22 highway is a steal over here!

my weekend toy car when I get one will have at least 8 cylinders and at least 350ci

If I'm honest and take my opinion out of it the mini is a reasonably good proposition, re-sale is top notch.
My brother in-law has one and it has been good to him and never got out of line on him once (it's his first car).
If only they has called it the BMW small, or anything other than mini... mini it is not It's bigger than half the cars on the road in the UK.
