Didn't I read earlier somewhere on this board that Chrysler is making a PT Hybrid? I know that I saw one done up as a taxi in NYC that was a hybrid. Did I dream that?

Unhappy Re: Selling My Cruiser

They were electric! There was a feature story and "Cover Picture" in one of the Cruiser Quarterly Magazines. Didn't go over well because the charge didn't last long enough for the typical cab driver's day.

Interesting posts about the electrics.

Plugging in your car doesn't sound that great if you are trying to be green though -- that power still comes from some where: nuclear, hydro, natural gas, coal. Plus electric batteries are pretty hard to dispose of in an enviromentally sound way.

I would be interested to know how much home utility bills go up to know if it is more efficient to do the 7K mod plus pay for the plug in vs fuel.

50 MPG auto's are not a new thing--only the way they get it.

My 1975 VW Rabbit Diesel did that. It was a 4 speed non turbo model. Drove it well over 200,000 miles before I let it go. Lost the transmission at about 125,000. Only major repair duirng ownership.

One quick question to the Prius owners--what is the recommend battery replacement point and if you had to do it out of warranty, what would the cost be? Would that price include battery disposal?

Trying to get a real look at the cost of ownership in the long haul? Thanks in advance for the info.
