2002 Bumper and Dash Recall Questions?

I just recently found this site and forum while trying to find a replacement dashboard for my 2002 PT. I have only had two issues with my PT and one was on the bumpers, there were tape marks I would assume came from the factory, and the second was my dash cracked right down the middle from the window through the top vent all the way to the top of the window controls. My first question is that I did read about the tape marks on the bumbers is a common problem and someone even said there was an official recall. Of course I am out of warranty now but would like to know if there is anything I can still do to correct this if the recall is correct. Also there seems to be a common problem with the dash cracking, I live in NC so it was not temps or poor care, is there a recall on this?? If not, can someone please let me know where I can order a replacement dash and about how much I would pay for this. Thank you very much for any information.

Welcome to the forum. There were a 3 recalls that I know of but neither the dash nor the bumpers were recalled. The tape marks on the bumpers were fixed by some dealers if the original owners complained loud enough and the dash complaints were numerous but I think I only read where a couple were replaced for cracking. There also might have been notices (TSB = Technical Service Bulletins) put out by Chrysler on what to do with customer complaints on the bumpers and dashes but no official recalls.

I lived in Fayettevile 5 years in the Air Force.
Was plentry of sunshine & heat - enough to make one use a dash mat or sun shade in the front window....

the TSB number on the bumper disoloration is 23-034-04. it applies to 01-03 PTs, repair is to paint the textured part with SEM bumper coat and the cost is reimbursed by the warranty. no tsb on dash cover but it is a common problem. dash mat and good cleaning/ condidtioning practices will help.

What if your pt is not under warranty will Chrysler still cover it or is there something I could do....

Is there a phone number so that I can call & ask about the cracked dash on my PT?
This is more than a minor problem if so many people are having cracked dash boards on 2002 PTs

myron you can call chrysler and ask if your car is still able to have the recall work done. bonnie, unless a tsb is issued about the dash cover, there isnt anything you can do but lodge a complaint with chrysler. bite the bullet and buy a new one, and protect it with a dash mat.

I am so frustrated to have a car that I love & then have it be defective.
We use sun shades. My daughter drove over a railroad track between 20-25 mph & that is when the big crack began & over a period of a few days it split right down the center just like the other pts that I have read about; right above the radio from windshield to radio.
