Hello I just wanted everyones opinion A month ago I bought a used 2004 pt auto with 54000 miles and I have had to have some work done to it including tune up and a value cover gasket and a oil pressure switch and transmission serviced and new tires I also transfered the 7 year or 70000 mile powertrain for 150.00 so now the car is in the shop with the transmission out and I am told it will be covered under the powertrain warranty so I may just have to pay the 100 dect.
SO 54000 to 70000 = 16000 miles years to 7 years = 3 years The same car lot that I bought the car from is willing to trade back with me on a car they just got in its a 2006 pt with 14000 miles on it and it looks like it was a 2 year lease for a difference of 2266.00 dollars but I see the 7 year / 70000 powertrain warranty coverage is not listed on the warranty coverage for the 2006 model year so was it droped after the 2004 model year? SO 14000 miles to 36000 miles = 22000 miles left on warranty but I only drive around 10000 a year years to 3 years = 1 year or less So what do you people think about this deal should I just keep the car I have and the warranty or should I buy the 2006 with less warranty left and less years left? The two cars are the same except color and whatever changes chrysler made in them Sooorry for such a long post just wanted everyones opinion |

Sounds like for the second PT the owner just opted-out of the extended warranty at purchase. I've got extended warranties on both my 2006s.
![]() Will they sell you an extended warranty - since you might be buying from a dealer?

We just bought a 2006 with 19000 miles on it at the end of March. The 3yr/36K warranty expires in October (the powertrain warranty is either 7yr/70K or 8yr/80K). We were able to purchase the Chrysler Added Care Plus 8yr/80K warranty for $695 + tax from the dealer. It has a $100 deductible, but covers pretty much anything that can go wrong. I'm glad we did because we are already having problems (had the a/c compressor replaced, and now the fan control module). I'd hate for these problems to crop up after the original warranty goes up and then have to pay for them out of pocket!

That's why they call them "Dealers"!
The amount of difference isn't that much at all for a 2 year newer vehicle. BUT....I would try to swing a deal for the extended warranty too on the 2006 .

2 years newer and 56,000 fewer miles for only $2,266?
Something is wrong. Compare the features of what you have versus the '06. Are you sure they're the same except for color? I suspect the '06 has fewer features - remote locking, sunroof, ABS, etc...check and double-check.

Well really the 06 has more like power door locks but other than that its the same they both are the base models

The 2006 Touring base model comes with a very nice chromed grill.

Well I decided to keep the 2004 for now
