Thanks for that information.. that's some things to def keep in mind no doubt. There is no way we are going to pay even 6,900 for it.. We originally offer 5,500 for it.. but I would want them to fix the battery then get it inspected by someone else before we would seal the deal.
I did find this gorgeous car.. Power Car Search - Vehicle Details I love that the flames are really, really faint on the front. I lovveeee the flames on the purple woody but I'm not sure I can go from my bland white grand prix to such an eye catcher as the purple woody ya know? lol. |

So we've got another one we are trying out tonight. We've kind of nixxed the black one in the first post I think.. so here's the next one we are trying out.. it seems like a great deal. Think we can talk them down a little?

I bought my 2003 PT GT with 51K miles and paid a little over that (plus tax & plate ect)... I think there is definately room to move on that car.
Plus it's heading for 80K, 80-90K is timing belt time which is not a cheap job if you are not going to do it yourself. Seems a nice car, but you should be offering him $800 less, aiming to end up paying under $6K Quote:

Around how much is the timing belt?

If you do it yourself you can get the parts for less than $250 including a new water pump which it is a good idea to change at the same time.
If you have belt tensioners and water pump done at a main dealer it'll sting you about a grand! An independant shop may do it all for $600 or so.

don't be put off the PT, this is the same on many modern cars with little space in the engine bay and the increase in complexity and the trend to go from 60K change to 80-90k change meant that manufacturers would not put servicing these parts as high up the list, hence driveing the cost up.

Go on Autotrader or such online, and get some comparative prices and print some to show the next time you deal with a dealer.
