I've got a Vanilla 07. I like to keep it pimped out, so I've been trying to wash it every week and have already waxed it three times since February. But every time I wax it, the whole car stays clean and blinging for at least several days, but the hatch gets dirty in half a day if I drive it. It pisses me off.
![]() Anyways, I was wondering if everyone had this problem. I was thinking maybe different spoilers had different effects on the hatch staying clean. I've just got a tiny lip spoiler and I'm pretty sure the dirt is coming from poor aerodynamics at speed swirling the dirt onto my hatch at speed. Who's hatch stays clean pretty well, and what kind of spoiler do you have? |

The hatch gets dirtier first.

Same problem! ![]() Although the duster is a help at shows, I usually don't want to take a chance to scratch the surface. So, I just go ahead and rinse the Cruiser off with the garden hose and shammy! ![]()

Seeing that the PT is basically flat in the rear, a slight vacuum is produced making the road dust spin up and swirl making the hatch dirty. I had a Dakota with a "topper", and had the same problem.

The spoiler doesn't have anything to do with it-my 05 did not have a spoiler and it got plenty dirty back there! My 04 has the Chrysler spoiler and it is about the same dirtyness.

Just today did I really notice this...Drove down a dirt road, lots of loose dirt, pretty much dust, was in the cup of the hatch handle. Easy clean

Same problem! I like your response ... a spoiler is a soiler and so is the back of the PT. Ours is a 2007 vanilla PT.C with the factory spoiler. Dirt loves to stick to the back side of the cruiser... trying driving down the road backwards for a bit and see if that will do the trick! ![]() |
