PT Cruiser Diesel!

Hi,
I'm new in this forum and I was checking around but I didn't see any posts that someone owns a Diesel PT Cruiser here
Mine is a 2001 build year and its a 2.2 CRD Diesel.
I have problems with my A/C... in one of the workshops they told me that the compressor is dead... I just wanted to know if someone else has a problem like this?

we don't see any diesels here as they were not available in the north american market. it's not unusual to see something like especially on an older pt with i 'm sure alot of miles. have you recieved any quotes on replacing the compressor? how many opinions have you gotten about the problem?

I was wondering what kind of fuel economy you get with the diesel?

Well it is old but it has only 82.000 km approx 60.000 miles... I'm in Europe not in US
When I asked in the Factory (Austria) they told me its impossible that the compressor is dead, it may happen that I'm the lucky one who has a bad compressor I will send it today in an another workshop and lets see
If someone has a problem with the compressor please let me know

Well if you drive in the city its approx 8 liters / 100km (2.1 gallons per 62 miles)
outside the city 6 liters / 100 km (1.6 gallons per 62 miles)

Wow I would love to own a Diesel PT Cruiser!!!! Then I could run Bio-Diesel that I can make for like 90 cents a Gallon!!! Jeez that would rock. It's a big thing here in Colorado, the whole Bio-Diesel thing.

Yeah, but the import tax would kill me!!! You know....I saw one on eBay not to long ago, it was yellow, I never did see where it was from but a dealership was selling it.

it is allso expensive to buy a Diesel... a new one will start from 20.000 euros (31.000 dollars) the Classic edition... the limited edition starts from 22.000 (34.500 dollars) and all without tax a used one you can find with 10.000 euros.
The CRD (Diesel) motor was build by Mercedes-Benz... thats why it is expensive

that same Diesel engine was used in the US Jeep Liberty 2 years ago.
