I'd say go with whatever you're more comfortable with. The PT in aerodynamic terms is a brick with wheels, it's also almost 3200 lbs with a little four banger powering it. There's just not much in it's favor for fuel mileage. The benefit to that is pretty much no matter what you do it's mileage sucks. I've never noticed a difference with my AC on.
I did a road trip to Ontario last summer. It's a 5000km round trip. I did 90km/h (55mph) on the way out there, (Ontario's speed limit

) it was cold so I didn't have the a/c on and I averaged 36mph (imperial not us gallon.) On the way back I wanted to get home and did 140-150km/h (85-90) for about 3-4 hours then cruised at 120km/h (75) for the rest. It was hot and I had my a/c on the whole way. I averaged 33mpg. The 3mpg difference I would attribute to having a lead foot. The biggest savings you'll see on fuel mileage is driving nice.
