Default Got rid of my wifes PT

Well the 4 dollar a gallon gas did it. Traded in my wifes 05 pt on a brand new Chevy Cobalt. J ust couldnt, handle the 15 16 per gallon the pt was getting . She loved the car , and we didnt have a whole lot of problems with it, other than the rack and pinion , but Chrysler took care of that . Just had to get something that got better milage . This was a great forum , and i learned alot on here, so thanks guys. Happy Cruising

Glad to hear you moved on to better things. Although the PT is not great on gas mileage, it is VERY fun to drive and is unique in it's own class.

Good luck!

yeah, I'm averaging about 21mpg, I need to find a beater so I can drive the 42 miles round trip to work everyday and not suck half my paycheck out in fumes. These are truly beautiful cars and I could not bear to let mine go. It's my baby!

I'm contemplating running a dirt bike to work. I'm in a rural area so I can do that. Way cheaper to insure if it's an ORV, and should get 50-60mpg. You'll like the mileage of the Cobalt. My buddy has one and he gets probably close to 40mpg.

Sad to hear! Im glad i got my Suzuki DRZ 400S 60+ mpg to go to work also have a scooter which gets like 90+ mpg to run to my GF's house. Gas really is not that high here back two years ago I went to Germany and the gas was already at $5.00 back then. But there way ahead of us as far as good mpg cars. Here in the US most of the GUYS only think of horse power numbers and not mpg. My P/T gets crappy MPG but crap im not parting ways.

Cool Re: Got rid of my wifes PT

I driving a chevy express van 350 engine to work and if I saw Bush Jr. and an oil tycoon in the road I would run them over with it and back up if I had too! Thank godness it's only 4.4 miles one way. My wife drives the PT.Cruiser to work as a substitute teacher soon to be teacher. Hope the school she ends up in is close to home. Thinking of getting a moped since I drive back streets to work anyway. About $1500.00 bucks for a good one.

That's too bad. I took over my wife's PT for commuting, and get around 29 on my trip. I don't understand the inconsistancy with MPGs on these cars. In 02, ours was fine while other 02's were down in the mid teens in town and high teens on the highway. Anyone ever figure it out?
