does anyone have a good idea to protect PT rear light from thieves, it comes with only one external screw (easy to stole)?

I was thinking the same thing since I am gonna buy some.... my idea was to use those special screws with the funny looking heads. You see these kind of screws in public restrooms at your job or something. These may work because then they would need a special tool or bit to get them off.

being serious, digitalpins is right, special screws would work.
Also I did actually do the rounding the head thing on a vespa scooter I had, aslong as the head protruded a little I could cut a slot in it in the garage and get the screw out with a normal flat head screw driver, but it stopped mirrors getting stollen.

I fear for my LED Tails all the time.... Knowing that your Tails worth $250 can be stolen within 3 min or less with a flat head screwdriver isnt fun to think about...

thats what I used for my license plate because here in NYC they stole them from my old car, they will steal anything here in NYC. So thats why I originally mentioned those screws here, I too am going to get some new taillights and dont want them taken.

They were stealing plates in Philadelphia and Richmond also. Apparently what they do is steal the plate and cut the corner square off the plate that holds the registration sticker. Then they stick it on their own car making it look like their car is registered for another year ...unless you look really close and the numbers don't match.......
or the newest thing is that they use your plate to get gas and drive off without paying. The service station owner gets the number of the plate but it turns out to be registered to you. If you park in a public place, always take a walk around your car when you get back to check for damage and missing items. Last edited by CREWZIN; 14 Jun 2008 at 02:47 pm. |
