Buddy, it IS serious. Public roads are not your personal playground. People on them do not ask to be put at risk of injury or death due to your poor judgement.

If you want to race, go to a track.

Names Jake. There's a difference between racing and having a little fun. He did a 100. Who here hasn't taken there car over the speed limit? I'm not saying it's the safest thing in the world, but with a car as nice as his, do you really think he would drive above his capabilities? Not everybody wants to go 10 miles an hour under the speed limit. If they did, they wouldn't make all the mods they do. They wouldn't make a GT Pt Cruiser. I doubt he posted this so everybody could jump down his throat about how irresponsible he is. I didn't say it wasn't serious, just that you guys shouldn't lighten up on him.

Ok, Jake.

The difference between racing and "having a little fun" is that one endangers innocent people and their property.

Ok, you guys, I understand that what I did was against the law and all, but lighten up! I am not saying that what I did was safe, but I know my cars limits better than 90% of the drivers on the road know theirs.

316.085 Improper Change of Lane
316.183 Unlawful Speed (Mandatory hearing when speed exceeds limit of 30mph or more)
315.156 Failed to Signal for Change of Direction
316.191 Racing on Highway

Crewzin, I used my turn signal, so one of those is out. Also, I only changed one lane at a time, which i think is what the first one is talking about. I will put down money that I am a better driver than almost all of Florida's population. When I am driving fast, I show respect for those around me. I never push them or get close. I leave a massive gap and if there is ever something I am not sure about, I don't try it. As I said before, the gaps between the cars were huge (at least 6-7 car-lengths) I am not reckless. I enjoy fun. Now go ahead and berate me all you want.

Thank you Jake. You understand me.

Josh, I'm not trying to berate you, just pointing out the error in your ways.

You've heard it a million times, you can be the best driver in the world, but what about the other 99% of those on the road. At those speeds, there's no way you can react fast enough to a stupid mistake by another driver.

Now, I don't know you but know what happens when people race. Cars 6 to 7 car lengths apart, and your doing 100mph and you used your turn signals each time you were swerving from lane to lane passing them????

6 to 7 car lengths between cars ...that's just about the time one of them pulls out to the other lane trying to pass the guy in front of them. Can they see you pulling up at 100mph? Do they even look to see if anyone's there in the lane they're going to pull into and are they looking that far back to see someone coming up at your speed?

I've been there, done that. But not with any traffic around. I take it you read my profile. I've been to crashes to really knock sense into my way of thinking about speed. 5 Star crash rating means nothing at 100mph.

I am Josh by the way, I was thanking Jake.

I do realize that a crash is more likely to happen because of someone else doing something that I can't react to than me losing control. That race lasted for about one or two minutes which, i know, is more than long enough for something to happen. I only made this thread to say that those HHR SS' are fast. Crewzin, at times you do come off pretty harsh. A post full of laws that I broke is not exactly going to make someone willing to chat you know? I have been pulled over for speeding twice in the years I have been driving. One time, the officer walked up, wrote me a ticket and talked at, and over me. I was not allowed to speak to explain that my brother had just severely injured himself (long fall) and I was on my way to hospital. The other time, I was pulled over after racing someone. It was on an empty road in the middle of nowhere. He could have just given me a ticket, but he sat down next to me on a curb and talked to me. HE actually made me understand why what I was doing was wrong. I did not get a ticket, but even if I did, I would thank him.

Josh,
On other forums I belong to, racing stories (other than on the track, is cause for banning, because the owner of the forum doesn't want to have his forum seem like it's condoning the legality of it. Then you have PT CREW where it seems that's all they talk about.

It's OK to tell race stories here, but it's also OK to give your opinion without belittling the poster. I sure hope I didn't do that or seem to do that to you. As I said, I'm on the other side of the law and was just pointing out the errors in your ways.

"HE actually made me understand why what I was doing was wrong." You said that, but your still doing it.

Because of him, I didn't speed or race for six months. The other officer (the one who wouldn't let me speak), I kept right on speeding right to the hospital. I understand that you were just trying to get your point across, and it is good to have some people out there to keep me in check, but there are no tracks for hours from where I live, so I do what I do on the road. It is very rare that I race someone (this is my 5th race since I have been driving) and I almost ALWAYS do my driving on empty roads. This one time is one of two where I have been around other cars enough to where it was a significant factor.

Well, just leave out the part where you were weaving between cars. It will still make a good story, you won't be telling a "fib", just not telling everything that happened and we'll all have a picture in our minds of two cars on a lonely stretch of road having a little fun and not endangering anyone but yourselves.
