I am trying to change the water pump in my mom's 2001 PT and am stuck trying to get the right motor mount bracket off. If anyone has done this before your help would be great.
Thank you |

Has the timing belt and tensioner been replaced? That should be done as long as you are going in there. Which motor mount (torque strut) on the right? Upper or lower?

Its the Braket that holds the upper torque strut to the engine. It also holds the motor mount that connects to the frame of the car through the wheel well. The braket is the big metal piece that separates the upper and lower timming belt covers. The mount is to close to the frame that i cannot get a wrench in to take off the last bolt.

From what I've read on replacing the timing belt (haven't done it yet myself), the engine itself has to be lowered a few inches to get at all the bolts needed to replace the belt and water pump.
Now if your talking about getting to the motor mount bolt in order to lower the engine then that's a real catch 22. Hopefully someone that's done it will come along with suggestions. |
