Default Transmission question

I just purchased a 2001 PT for my wife. Sweet deal, 26000 miles, ordered in late 2000 by a little old man who garaged it and took good care of it. Car runs and drives like new, with one issue. When shifting from reverse to drive, there is a slight hesitation in the transmission. Has anyone else had a similar issue, and since it is finally about to need the 30,000 mile service, would having the transmission serviced fix the issue? Thanks for your input.

Welcome, Scott.
Don't know what you mean by "serviced". There are no adjustments in the tranny - it's all electronically controlled. For about $200, you can have the tranny flushed. Be sure you find a place that has the flushing machine and be sure they use ATF + 4 fluid. You can have the pan dropped & drained & refilled, but that only gets about 1/2 the fluid (rest is in torque converter).
The auto flush should be done at about 50,000 miles, so you'd be early, but an early 2001 with only 26,000 miles means it didn't go on long trips and did a lot of shifting over those years.

I do sometimes when the engine is cold. When it's warm though, it runs like a champ. Not a big deal to me.

The limiter is controlled by the computer. You cannot override it. There's nothing you can buy to get around it. It's there to stop you from over-revving and hurting the engine.
