Yeah I had to have the entire manual transmission rebuilt at 35000 miles. I am at almost 50,000 right now with no clutch problems whatsoever.

Sorry to hear that!
But, a complete redesign of the clutch assembly tells you something in of itself!

Exclamation Re: CLUTCH LIFE EXPECTANCY ??

In 3/2008 I bought a 2008 PT manual transmission. With 20,000 miles, whenever the temperature exceeded 80 degrees outside, it was increasingly resistant to shifting into 1st or 2nd. I took it repeatedly to the dealer (of course under warranty) and they couln't identify a problem...until end of summer 2009 with 25,000 miles they said I needed a new clutch, despite repeatedly telling me they could find no problem nor simulate the problem. Not until a service person took my car home and drove it for 2 weeks did they determine a new clutch was needed. Also told it wouldn't be covered under warrantee...said wear and tear. So...that was last summer. Winter went fine; however when temps again rose above 80 degrees outside this June...identical problem began to happen, now at 45,000 miles. Didn't want to go through that again. Will never own another PT again. Chrysler denies problems...now its no longer MY problem.

Sooner must be drag racing the cornhusker cruiser.

These have dual mass flywheels and the hydraulic for the release bearing but I would think you should get a couple hundred thousand out of em if you drive normal. The one in my Shadow was about down to the rivets on the organic lining but wasnt slipping at 194K miles.

Of course if you drive all around town, race or ride your foot on the clutch pedal all bets are off.
