Default intake manifold painting???

Hi I have a metal intake manifold that says 2.4 Turbo that is factory silver...how hard is it to remove and how would I go about painting it Viper or Inferno Red? Is this a difficult undertaking? Is a special paint required for the heat....or can I just go to my local autobody supplier and have him make a spray bomb of Viper red? How do I clean the manifold and prep it?

Default Re: intake manifold painting???

Hi, when did you buy your car, just because you hav so many projects in mind! ;-)

The OEM look of the Turbo's intake manyfold is really dull! Once I have seen one painted red with the wirting creaned from paint and brushed (oooh, my English, I hope you understand!). I would recommend heat resistant paint, eg. for brake calipers. These paints usually need no primer, but the surface has to be totally free from grease and dirt!
Removal of the upper half of the manifold is not really difficult. 7 screws on the radiator side, 2 screws hidden on the backside, and its loose, but there are still some sensors and the throttle body to remove. Take care of the gasket between the two halfs of the manyfold, if its hardened, replace it. Its also a good opportunity to change the spark plugs, which is often neglected...
