Hey guys, first time poster, long time reader.Just wanted to say thanks for all the help from your postings. There are alot of websites dedicated to Pt's but few forums that actually give good info and advice. Here's my conundrum:
I have owned my 04 Pt Cruiser Touring Edition for about a year now. I have done minimum changes to it because my wife has been driving it (she doesnt like change, lol). Recently, we purchased her a new car, giving me the PT
I now have free reign to do as I please with it. I have already done the minor stuff like headlight upgrades, sound system, tail lights, etc. Now I am looking to start the drastic stuff My first question is....does anyone have any advice on what type of aftermarket shocks/spring sets work the best with the PT? I have been looking at the Eibach pro sets, but many review them as riding rough. I want to increase my handling and lower slightly, but dont want to sacrifice too much ride comfort. I am also looking at putting some aftermarket rims, 18'' or 19''. Not sure tho as I need to get the suspension taken care of first to get a better idea what wheel I need. Can someone please HELP?????

Welcome to the forum.

One of the best things you can do for handling is the strut tower brace bar that goes from strut to strut in the engine bay.

Eibach is a good choice for lowering but if you want to keep the ride halfway decent, you'll have to change front struts and rear shocks. I recommend Tokico, here's a site:

Any time you go to 18's or 19"s your lowering your sidewall which is the rubber that absorbs bumps. You can't have a thinner sidewall and expect a smooth ride. If you have any PT clubs in the area, try asking for a ride in anyone with the larger wheels and make up your own mind.

I went from 16 to 17 inch wheels and have the Tokico struts and shocks. I did sacrifice some ride smoothness and you know for a fact Florida roads aren't that bad. In fact the wife hates long rides in it. I don't mind.

Thanks alot Crewzin Front tower strut bar(APC) already installed has done alot to improve handling. I will definitely take your advice and ask around for a club in my area. Hopefully i can resolve this quickly cuz I'm dyin to get this show on the road. Keep cruisin
