Default Newb member, say hi, and help me out

Hello everyone. I'm in Minneapolis and just bought a PT today! I got a 2004 GT with every option (but not chrome?): auto, heated/power/leather seats, 6 cd changer, sun/moon roof. Its black on black with only 28,000 miles.

A little about me. I'm a HUGE Mazdaspeed Protege fanatic. I bought one new 5 years ago and it has been my daily driver, MN winters and all. It's modded up with (fmic, cai, bov, hardpipes, upped boost, full TBE, custome stereo, neon fog lights...yada yada). My wife and I have shared the protege for 5 years and today we finally got a 2nd car...the PT! I haven't even really had a chance to drive it yet

you can see pics of the Mazda here...bottom of the page (post 8 has current pics) the car has 105,000 miles!

And the questions...

1) common problems/issues I should look out for? AND any recalls for the 2004 model year too.

2) simple 1st modifications: boost gauge, cai, and???

3) this car has 220hp/245tq...does the engine have any forged components like the srt4 neon (rods/pistons)?

4) What do these dyno stock?

5) what do they do in the 1/4 mile stock?

6) top speed?...ish...not a big deal, just curious

My wife is going to be the main driver of the PT while I'll continue driving the Protege most of the time, the car is going to remain mostly stock.

Thank you for any help in the questions. I truely do appreciate it.

LCA bushings. Auto tranny can be a weak link.

Boost gauge if you are raising boost above Stage 1 level. Stage 1 is an excellent mod. A CAI is waste of money on this car unless you are going big turbo. Just really depends how far you are going.

Same engine.

4) What do these dyno stock?
190ish whp.

5) what do they do in the 1/4 mile stock?
Low 15s, high 14s with a good driver mod and slicks.

6) top speed?...ish...not a big deal, just curious
128-130

If it's going to be mostly stock then just a nice flow through exhaust system. A 2 1/2" catback system will help quicker turbo spool.

I don't think a muffler will be allowed (my wife is the #1 driver with this one), but I could probly do a downpipe! BTW, I think you have great taste in automobiles...white srt4 and 04 PT auto

How much did you shell out for the new toy? I'm looking at an 04 as well, but higher miles.
